About TRC

What is Trail Running Club?

Trail Running Club is a trail running website created for all trail runners, by trail runners who want to give back to the trail running community that we’ve grown to love. Our mission is to become a one stop website for runners ranging all the way from trail virgins to seasoned trail racers and elite ultra runners.

Throughout our website you will find informative articles written by industry experts on how to train, nutrition, trail shoe & gear reviews, injuries & prevention and sports psychology. As well as in depth listings of trail races, local running trails and where to find a trail running club in your area.

In keeping with our desire to be your trail running website we’ve added the ability for you to Add a Trail Running Club to our database. You can also Add a Running Trail in your area. Also, if you have a topic you’d like to learn more about that one of our experts hasn’t covered yet please send us an email and we’ll add it to our list of future topics.

We want to help promote the sport of trail running for runners of all abilities. If you are a race director or lead a trail running club and have an idea that will help you and others like you please contact us so we can discuss how that might happen on our website.

Jeremy Dougherty

Originally from West Rupert, Vermont, Jeremy now lives in Phoenix, Arizona. Jeremy has a passion for the outdoors, any fashion, any way, any time. Included in his 15+ ultra trail running events in 2010/2011 are numerous organized events like Zane Grey 50 Mile Endurance Race, Cascade Crest Classic 100 Mile Endurance Race as well as unsanctioned runs for fun like multiple double crossings of the Grand Canyon (R2R2R).

Jeremy is also our group race director. Having organized his own Superstition Mountain 50K and 50 Mile fun runs for friends over the past years Jeremy is branching out to direct Mogollon Monster 100, what’s soon to become one of the great wilderness 100 mile endurance races in the United States. A rugged, challenging trail race taking place about 90 minutes northeast of Phoenix, Arizona just outside the small town of Pine, Arizona. Mogollon Monster 100 is an advance degree endurance race that navigates its way up, down, around and through the beautiful Mogollon Rim.

John Vaupel

Originally from a small town in Eastern Iowa, John now lives in Fountain Hills, Arizona and is the developer of our TrailRunningClub.com website. It was John’s frustration with the lack of organized trail running information on the internet that lead to the partnership with Jay and Jeremy to create a “one stop” location for all things trail running.

John loves to train for trail races, in fact, he loves training so much he seeing racing as a nuisance and only signs up for a race so he has an excuse to keep training. Having recently completed his 2011 “Quest to Run 100 Miles (in less than 24 hours)” at Javelina Jundred, John is training hard for his yet to be announced “next quest”.
