As runners we spend a lot of time out in the sun. Dr. Dane Treat gives us “4 Tips to Protect Your Skin from the Sun this Summer”.
- Choose a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher, if in areas like Arizona bump that up to SPF 30 or higher. And make sure it protects against both UVA and UVB damaging sun rays.
- Apply often. You need to re-apply every 2 hours even if it’s sweat or water-proof.
- Choose the right clothing. Select a hat that covers your face or at lest your nose and ears.
- Use a moisturizing cream with antioxidants such as Vitamins C & E, which helps protect the skin and helps repair minor damage from the sun.
